back track

we're headed back to england tomorrow morning.  to see my cousin's baby's mama.  as in my cousin megan had vicky's baby.  and we're going to see vicky.  in oxon, england.  halfway between bath and london.  i am crazy excited.  we'll probably be able to stay there for awhile, my cousin megan will be coming tomorrow as well, and megan/vicky's baby will obviously be there.  which, don't get me wrong, i still don't fancy the wee ones, but i've never seen this one before.  and it's cool because of the circumstances of which it was born into.

that's from glasgow.  our friend neil took it.  he was fabulous.
and that's glasgow university behind us.  it was gorgeous.

other than that, dublin has been. . . interesting.  we discovered the glory of grocery stores, for one thing.  it'll save us a lot of money, buying a loaf of bread for 3 euros instead of two sandwiches for 6 euros each.  yikes.

besides, it kinda makes it feel like we're married.
buying groceries.
mmmmmmmmmmm . . .

i've been waiting for this moment for about two years, i'd say. those who once knew me no longer do.
i've become a shadow.
a whisper.
a distant memory.

facebook spring cleaning.

adios random people who i don't remember. . . and many that i do remember, but don't care to. thank heavens for privacy settings.

that ain't no sears tower

no, it isn't.

it's not a promise, either. . .

but that.
is milwaukee.

there's a good chance. . . don't say good. . . there's a chance that kevin and i will end up in milwaukee come august.
if not milwaukee, then maybe here:

in high point, north carolina. home of the NC Shakespeare Festival. that's the chamber of commerce, not the theatre. sadly. but, man. how cool would that be?

i'm auditioning for NCSF the morning of may 5th.
got a call from stewart to audition that afternoon.
have an appointment with geddes the next morning.
then, if all goes well, NC callbacks the afternoon of the 6th.
pre-marital counseling session #1 at 2pm on the 7th.
and finally sweeney todd at OHS that night.

wow.

besides those things next week. . .right now?

i'm done with college. which is strange.
i got certified in 3 areas of stage combat today:
single sword, small sword, & unarmed. which is awesome.

he made me do it

i went to a poetry/spoken word writing workshop today.

i had never been to a writing workshop before, apart from Donna Barnes' Freshman AP English class. but that was 1999-2000. 1999. wow. and i don't remember doing poetry in there. we did It's a Wonderful Life, and Our Town, and words. such as:
me: imbibe
tiff: histrionic
andrew: peccadillo

remember peccadillo? i will never forget it as long as i live.

Andrew: My word is "peccadillo"
Donna: And what does it mean?
Andrew: Uh...it's a type of cheese.
Donna:
The rest of the class:
Andrew: . . . cheese. . .

upon looking it up, we found that its actually meaning is:
a slight offense

close, mr robinson. so close.

what kind of forks do you want?

i mean, there is just. so. much. to plan.

but. . .

i have our senior showcase on monday, with a dress rehearsal on sunday. i should find out whether or not i got the Milwaukee Rep internship by the 15th. then the 30th is our stage combat certification test. may 5-6 is an audition for North Carolina Shakespeare's fall season. commencement on the 11th.

and that's just me. kevin has an inner voices show all next week. potted meat rehearsals the week after that, for their show on the 19th. and then his thesis is due on the 25th.

besides that giant list of mainly academic things to do, we are also trying to plan our wedding. our wedding, which is being celebrated on the 26th of july, (only 11 days after our 43 day trek around europe from june3-july15) even though we're doing to actual paperwork on june 2nd in order to ease the rent's minds about the overseas time. which, in my opinion, is an awesome idea.

i just want to take a three day nap. like a coma. because if i was in a coma for just three days, i probably wouldn't miss much, but wouldn't get in trouble for all the stuff that i did miss.

anybody got a coma pill?

also, we're registered at Bed, Bath and Beyond, Crate & Barrel, and Kohl's.
have at it.

good morning, lucky charms

henry IV went up last thursday. finally. we're off from yesterday until our pick-up rehearsal on wednesday night. i cannot stress how amazing these free days both have been and are going to be.

for the past week and a half i've started smelling spring in my classrooms. my nostrils are full of it. it makes me think of 4th grade, the week before you're allowed to go outside for recess again. . . that springy smell drifts inside through the walls and windows, just to torment you. my nose picked up on it early this year. i'm just so ready to be finished.

kevin and i are going to california for spring break. to visit his uncle john. neither of us have ever done a classic 'spring break' before. i'm beyond excited.

i love him. in a big way.

the beginning of the opening (that desperately wanted to be the end of the closing)

tomorrow. . . no, first, today.

today is friday. my fridays are busy days. class from 9-1, work from 1-6, rehearsal from 7-11. every friday. but today is different. . . barely. rehearsal doesn't start until 8. because it's a tech. and also the last hours in the lives of many in our cast.

tomorrow: Doomsday.

10 out of 12

let me explain. sit down if you're faint of heart.

tonight we'll get done at 11:00pm. as we should. at 11:00pm. as it is written in the Theatre Department's Manuel of Rehearsal Procedures whilst in use of the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts. at 11:00pm.

(a note about Krannert: KCPA is a machine above all machines. she runs like a swiss watch. precision to the second. rehearsals have been cut-off mid-sentence due to the tolling of the hour. 11:00 means 11:00. not 11:07. not 11:02. eleven. o. clock.)

so. tonight we'll be done at 11:00. . . but maybe not because our nutcase of a diva director woman thinks she can give us notes until ten after because she's queen of henry-land when really no one likes her because her 'notes' only consist of her scolding us for pointless things and talking about how we all need to get healthy (see note: half the cast is sick. maybe it's because, even if we finish a run at 10, you keep yammering at us until 11:08 and we don't get enough sleep because, surprise surprise, we're dealing with this thing called school for which we have more to do than just your precious little show here.).

so. tonight i'm sure we'll be done right at 11. especially since it's our first tech. it'll go smoothly, without a doubt. smooth.

and then. tomorrow. 10 out of 12. that's hours. 10 out of 12 hours.

begin: 10:00am
dinner: 3-5:00pm
end: 10:00pm

from 10 to 10 minus 2.

i can't help but imagine what a 10 out of 12 would have been like for Gint last fall. 10 hours with Alec Wild. 10 hours of laughing, loving, joking, screwing Jon Hill on a crate, Caroline spreading her ancient and creaking ol' legs, DeAnne dying, Corey being brilliant, Adam and myself making obscene gestures with an imaginary plunger. . . for 10 straight hours.

this one. will be different.

this one-as my darling Alec would inevitably say-will be ass.

mmmmmm...

he's just so good.

it's like thanksgiving...without the pie

my plate is just so full right now.
not that i'm not completely enjoying myself almost all the time, because i definitely am . . . but there's just. so. much.

this being my last semester, i really wanted to take advantage of everything that is possible on this campus. and in this department. so i'm taking classes. lots of classes. and independent studies. and, per usual, rehearsals. some days are from 9am-1pm, others from 8am-3pm. then rehearsals from 7-11 or somewhere within. so i'm packed. to the brim. with occasional spillage.

there was a major overflow last thursday-saturday, when my body decided to say "No More, thank you very much. I've had enough," with much enthusiasm. you see, many of these classes that i'm enrolled in are incredibly taxing on one's body . . . especially after just coming back from a month of essentially sitting on one's backside, or road-tripping to memphis, or watching movies.

i'm in this Yoga for Dancers class that meets at 8am tuesday-thursday. i mean, it's for dance majors. so they're good at it. and know what they're doing. i, on the other hand, while quite flexible, have little to zero strength in these gangles of mine. therefore, i end up being in pain during most of the 45 minutes. or at least i can count on the anguish to appear for the next fews days.

but. it's good pain.
. . . right?

then i have fight class, which consists of rolling around on the ground for 30 minutes and then pretending to punch, slap, kick or choke my classmates for the next 30.

and finally, and most likely my favorite, clown class. yes, that's right. Clown. Class. we're learning how to flip each other, do handstands, juggle, and fly through the air. one of our finals will be to juggle while reciting an entire monologue.
this is my school. this is what i'm doing with my life.
i love everything about it.

besides those blissful moments of my day, i have a voice-over class, and independent dialect seminar study thing, and acting for the camera.

and i'm in love. which puts sugar all over everything.

now, i'm going to take out these contacts, put in a load of his&hers laundry, and learn Scottish by watching Trainspotting.

another one

well. it's my birthday.

not that i'm not excited about it. . . we're going to eat great mexican food tonight, and margaritas, and i think people are going to come over later.
i just feel. so old...
like i'm missing out on things already.
and so far behind from where i want to be.

but i'm happy. which is different. and good.

mr finkleton

i got a macbook for Christmas. i love him lots.

i'm turning 23 in 8 days. yikes.
so i started this big-kid blog.

this break is becoming one of the best of all my college days, as far as i'm concerned. . .
but i still cannot wait until classes start again.
