a couple days ago at work, i walked up to my boss and presented a plea. i write the nuts & dried fruit order, so i'm in charge of keeping these little guys on the shelf:
which is easy, because no one ever buys them.
i hate these things. they are awful and too expensive and stupid and i told my boss i didn't want to order them anymore.
to that, he said if i ate three of the little packets in two minutes, the deal was on. so, i sat down, ripped open the box and dove right in.
the trick is that these little flakes are covered in some kind of powdery something that immediately coats your tongue making it almost impossible to swallow without a beverage of some kind. also, when you're chowing down as fast as you can in the backroom, coworkers begin to watch you and say things that make you laugh, so you have to walk away and chew all alone in a corner.
but.
i finished.
without barfing.
and now i will never order those disgusting things again.
ever.
and, yes. i was on the clock while all of this went on. i have the best boss on the planet.

i am.
...almost out of the frying pan.
and into (instead of the fire) a shoebox.
and thus begins, dear reader(s); The Shoebox Chronicles.

just like riding a bike
back to the grind.
the new store in pretty much in full swing. open, packed on the weekends, crazy slow during weekdays, and stuffed to the gills with nuts and dried fruit. that's my order. we will never run out. we will never have to much back-stock. i will order it with perfection.
that being said, it's still a bit weird having customers shopping in there. let alone, 65 brand new employees who, at some point in the future, i'm sure to be quite good friends with but, for the time being, i continue to judge from a distance. with the other veterans, see. we must stick together. and make the children do the back-breaking work. they have to learn, see.....
auditions are starting to pop up for next season, as well. which is exciting. considering i technically have a completely open calendar at the moment.
i have, obviously, cast myself in a number of different projects so as to be mind-booked through next fall. but. we'll see if any of those people actually call me.
i haven't written on here in ages.
my brain seems to be bounding around in my skull lately. i'm not sure what that means. and i've been making cookies a lot. and taking them to work, so i don't eat the entire batch by myself.
oh, there's a 3x3 foot hole in our kitchen ceiling. and it drips whenever it rains. so, that's great.

dammit. but like, good or something i'm sure maybe.
MSF is out. chicago summer is in.
SO. there's that.
on the good side, i'm transferring stores! headed to open up the brand new one at Clark & Diversey next week. i'll miss being downtown with all the tall shiny buildings and whatnot, but i get to keep the best boss ever, and open a store. which should be fun. and shiny and new and clean and exciting. for this, i am very excited.
also, it's going to have a picnic table on the roof, so i'll get really freckle-y during my lunches.

dear deb
after much waiting, and many "just REJECT me already......" posts, and finally a desperate email from myself to you. . .
you responded.
and officially rejected me from ISF this season. phew. it's about time. i mean, i was about to let hope get the better of me.
but don't worry. together, we nipped hope in the bud.
and now, i'll just rest all of my everything on MSF. i'm sure that's a great idea.
